Drug Uses
Fludac is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that is used to treat the symptoms of depression, panic, anxiety, bulimia nervosa (an eating disorder) obsessive-compulsive disorder and panic disorder.
How it is taken
The general dosage for Fludac is 1-2 times a day. However, please keep in mind that the treatment for depression, anxiety and related conditions are often long (3 months or more).
You must take Fludac and preferably at the same time everyday to derive benefits from the treatment.
Missed Dosage
If you miss a dose of, then you may take it as soon as you remember and adjust the remaining doses accordingly. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose then you may skip this dose and continue with the regular dosage. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
An overdose of Fludac can be fatal and some of the symptoms are Nausea, rapid heartbeat, seizures, sleepiness, vomiting, coma, delirium, fainting, high fever, irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure, mania, rigid muscles, sweating, and stupor. Seek medical care immediately if you suspect an overdose.
Warnings/Precautions
Discuss with your doctor about any prior medical condition that you may have including allergies to medicines, food or other substances, you have a history of seizures.
Fludac may cause drowsiness. These effects get aggravated if you take it with alcohol or certain other medications (sleep aids, muscle relaxers). So, do not drive or perform other potentially hazardous tasks until you know how your body reacts to the drug.
You might experience dizziness or drowsiness when getting up from a sitting or lying position. So, try getting up slowly.
You must not take if you are allergic to any ingredient in it or are recovering from a heart attack or if you have liver disease or diabetes.
If you are pregnant or suspect that you are, then stop using Fludac and contact your doctor immediately.
Certain drugs can interact with Fludac and hence, mention clearly to your doctor or pharmacist all medicines, dietary supplements and herbal prescriptions that you are taking.
Fludac is secreted in breast milk. Avoid breast feeding while using the drug.
Possible Side Effects
Some of the common side effects of are abnormal dreams, abnormal ejaculation, abnormal vision, anxiety, diminished sex drive, dizziness, dry mouth, flue like symptoms, flushing, gas, headache, impotence, insomnia, itching, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, rash, sinusitis, sleepiness, sore throat, sweating, tremors, upset stomach, vomiting, weakness, yawning. Please contact your doctor if the symptoms persist or become bothersome.
Other severe but less common side effects include abnormal taste, agitation, bleeding problems, chills, confusion, ear pain, emotional instability, fever, frequent urination, high blood pressure, increased appetite, loss of memory, palpitations, ringing in the ears, sleep disorders, weight gain. In children and adolescents, less common side effects may be- agitation, excessive menstrual bleeding, frequent urination, hyperactivity, mania or hypomania (inappropriate feelings of elation and/or rapid thoughts), nosebleeds, personality changes, and thirst.
You must seek medical attention immediately if any of these side effects occur.
